Bray Jazz Festival 2018

This May Bank Holiday weekend, you’re in for a treat! The annual Bray Jazz Festival is back in town, showcasing some of the best Jazz musicians in the world. The festival has been running for 19 years, giving contemporary Jazz and improvised music a platform. Music performances will take place in some of Bray’s iconic venues such as The Harbour Bar (voted best bar in the world by Lonely Planet) and The Mermaid Arts Centre. This is your opportunity to witness some sublime Jazz musicians. Catch it in town until it is gone for another year!

Friday 4th 

Cora-Venus Lunny & Colm O’Hara

Join two of Ireland’s most prominent musicians, violin virtuoso Cora-Venus Lunny and trombonist Colm O’Hara as they team up to present an evening of instrumental Jazz.

China Moses & Band

Blues/Pop vocalist China Moses travels all the way from the US to make her Bray Jazz Festival debut. Get ready to hear pieces from her recently released sixth album ‘Nightintales’.

Reijseger, Fraanje and Sylla

Netherlands/Senegal Trio Reijseger, Fraanje and Sylla present a fusion of Jazz and Folk through their use of vocals, cello, piano and African-styled percussion.

Saturday 5th 

Jazz Workshop with Cora-Venus Lunny & Colm O’Hara

Two of Ireland’s top instrumentalists come together to share their own experience in the music industry. They discuss playing, writing and performance techniques, including the art of improvisation. A great opportunity not to be missed.

‘Making Other Arrangements’ by Linley Hamilton featuring Cian Boylan & The Camden Orchestra

One of Ireland’s top trumpeters Linley Hamilton has put together a unique once-off gathering of 21 skilled Irish musicians, featuring Pianist Cian Boylan to create ‘The Camden Orchestra’.

MathJazz quintet Umbra return to the Bray Jazz Festival for another year. Get ready to experience some complex instrumentation through a highly energetic performance.

Five to Two – Bray Jazz Festival Debut

Dublin-based trio Five to Two will be swinging by The Harbour Bar to perform as part of the Bray Jazz Festival for the first time. Double bass, piano and drums combine to create some very smooth Jazz.

The Aoife Doyle Band

Join one of Ireland’s most exciting Jazz ensembles Aoife Doyle and band as they take over The Harbour Bar this Sunday afternoon.

French harpist, Neo-soul vocalist and composer Laura Perrudin will be performing a collection of unique tunes.

Bobo Stenson, Jon Falt and Mats Eilertsen

Swedish/Norwegian trio, lead by pianist Bobo Stenson play this Sunday night as one of the festival’s headline shows. Expect to hear a combination of Classical, Jazz, and Folk music.

Avante-garde quintet The Mushburgers use their guitars to produce instrumental surf echoing the Californian sound of the 60s.
